Minda stood quietly as Clare and Kim slept. This is something she often did ever since they were babies. These girls are growing so fast and soon Clare would be a teenager something Minda pushed back to the back of her mind as often as she could.
Minda was enjoying her Saturday hanging out in her pajamas till she felt the need to get dressed. She was busy doing house work while James was outside fulfilling another big project that took a chunk of their savings but it needed to be done since a little dog would be joining the family soon.
James was working on a privacy fence to make sure their new family member had a safe place to play and didn't run off. The count down was going quickly in James and Minda's head while they looked at he calendar hoping the next 2 weeks went by as quickly as possible.
After a few hours Clare and Kim woke up. They headed out back to the swing set that their grandma and grandpa bought them. "Mommy, what is daddy building a fence for?" Asked a curious Kim. Minda tired to not lie but not spoil a surprise so she hesitated to say, "Well its for a surprise we are getting in a few weeks." Clare then added, "Mom I hope we get a girl dog and we name her Missy. That would be so fun!" Minda about tripped while pushing Kim on the swing set. That was completely out of no where and Missy was a cute name for their furry friend who would be needing a new name.
(The name request was the winner of my Name Our Doggy Event I had up on facebook and here on my blog. Destiny Hailey Rose entered the name Missy and it was a winner. Thanks to everyone who entered a name/names. And thank you Destiny for requesting such a fitting name for the new family member.)
Minda couldn't think straight and pulled James inside to talk. James sat down wondering what could be so important. "Is this about having another baby?" James asked Minda. "No silly, this is about the dog. Clare and Kim are making interesting comments that make me think we should tell them." Minda and James stood up quickly when the back door slammed shut and the girls were in the kitchen getting a drink of water. James then called the girls into the living room. They came in with a hop in their step. James took Minda's hand. "Girls your mom and I would like to tell you something.
Minda smiled "So would you girls like to know what the surprise is?" Both girls started to smile and nodded their heads yes. "Well, your dad and I have decided we are going to be adopting a dog!"
Both girls started cheering and hugged each other. "This is so exciting." Clare said. Kimberly added to the excitement with her hands over her face and eyes as big as the moon. She was speechless but in a good way. "Mom is it a boy or a girl?" Minda then brought up the picture she was sent of the dog. "She's a 2 year old Yorki who was hurt by her previous owners and needs a loving home AND a new name." Clare then shouted "MISSY?" James and Minda looked Kim "Is that ok with you?" Kimberly was never one to start a fight so her response was not a surprise to them, "Missy is a great name. I love it!"
Clare and Kim went out with James to help with the installing of the fence. James also called a few friends over to help as well. Minda stayed inside to work out a little after receiving a very public comment about her weight. She tried hard not to let the comment bother her but she then began to think maybe that comment was something she needed to get the extra pounds off. She was determined to do this for her health and her kids.
After her work out Minda added another plant to their small garden. She couldn't wait to enjoy the fruit and vegetables they were beginning to grow.
The back yard looked great. Day turned into night and the fence was installed shortly after 10:00pm. James set up the fire pit and the family gathered around it. He also has planned to install a small pool for the girls and the garden they had started already has 4 plants in it. Life in Hidden Springs was feeling amazing but there was still problems in this happy little family.
love it cant wait for the next one
ReplyDeleteI love it, but hate to see that they have problems. In all truth, every family has some problems, but when family sticks together and trusts in God, problems can be conquered :)
